Troubleshooting
Sign into Xbox.com first:
- Step 1 - Sign into your Microsoft account using the link below (Please note that signing into this area first has shown a high success for players when attempting to link accounts).
- Step 2 - Please retry inputting your linking code via once you have signed in
- Step 3 - If you are still facing issues, please try these steps on a different device (different PC or Phone)
- Step 4 - If possible, please also try the above steps using a different internet connection (such as using mobile data instead of your home WiFi)
Sign Out and Sign In Again:
- Step 1: Sign out of your PlayStation Network (PSN) account.
- Step 2: Sign in again using your account credential
- This process can help refresh your account connection and ensure it’s synced properly.
Turn off passwordless login:
Some players have reported that they were not able to link their PlayStation and Microsoft accounts when they used passwordless logins with their Xbox account.

Set your account to use a password
- Go to - https://account.microsoft.com/
- Sign into your Xbox account
- Select Security
- Select "Manage How I sign in"
- Under Passwordless account, select Turn off and then Next.
- Follow the prompts to add a password back to your account.
Change Xbox Password:
- Try changing the password for your Microsoft Account. Some players said they were able to link accounts after changing their password.

Use the Microsoft authenticator app:
- Please download the Microsoft Authenticator App
- Add your Microsoft/Xbox gamertag to the app
- Try linking accounts on PlayStation again but use the app to verify
Check Your Internet Connection:
- Make sure your PS5 is connected to the internet. A stable internet connection is essential for syncing your account data.
Restart Your PS5:
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve syncing issues.
- Turn off your PS5, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
Check for System Updates:
- Ensure your PS5 system software is up to date.
- Go to Settings > System Software Update and check for any available updates.
Use a Private Browser:
- Try to sign into the Xbox account you want to use in a private browser tab. (Or Incognito window) Then try goingthrough the linking process with the private browser.

Disable VPNs:
- Are you using a VPN? If so can you try turning that off then trying the linking process again.
PlayStation 5 Beta program:
If you are part of the PS5 beta program you may need to revert to the latest official system software before linking accounts
- Go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Stop Using Beta Version.
- Restart the PS5
- Try linking the accounts again
